October 16, 2011
Quiet Sunday spent mostly at home cleaning up after the potluck, doing laundry for the first time, and transferring movies and TV shows that Yoomie had on her portable hard drive. Caroline and I did take a ride to her school just so she would have an idea as to how long the commute would be and become familiar with the mini-van route and stops. Since it was Sunday, traffic was light and thus not representative of what she can expect on a weekday. The mini-vans don't have windows that passengers can open and only the driver enjoys the breeze coming in. I felt claustrophobic and started to sweat almost immediately after getting in. Caroline's post is located in the suburbs along a busy street with lots of businesses and pedestrian traffic. I think I dissuaded her from the idea of moving closer to the school both to save money and commuting time. The place is crowded, noisy and smelly as the trash bins are located all over the place.

Because it is Sunday, it seems it is the most propitious day to get married and we saw at least five couples make their way up the steps for the registration/officiation of the ceremony. Cars, with their festive decorations, were lined up along the street inching their way to deliver the couple and their entourage. Each couple was preceded by a trio of musicians while many female friends or relatives fawned over the bride and her wedding dress. We saw children attired in elaborate white dresses, but we weren't sure if they play a similar role to our flower girl or ring bearer.

When I made my way back home around 3:00pm, there were still at least two cars waiting outside for the bride and groom to be done with their ceremonies.

I'm off to bed early as Corrie's flight arrives at 3:00am.
